What can be done
- Managers at all levels held responsible for realizing diversity goals
- Diversity can be set as a clear goal and made explicit for management practices (e.g. KPIs)
- Each department could include concrete targets about diversity in mid term planning and managers held responsible for reaching these targets
- Final responsibility could be made with line managers but top managers also accountable
- Accountable for e.g. women turnover and promotion
- Managing diversity is included in mandatory training and orientation of new managers
How to make it work/ tips & tricks
- Managing diversity can be one of the core competencies used to assess managers’ performances
- Diversity goals could be tied to managers compensation and bonuses
- Regular measurements and reporting to the top management might strengthen the responsibility
- Some companies choose ‘diversity champions’ among their managers and make it public
